Jose Mourinho has expressed his pleasure at how the team performed against
Birmingham, playing a style of free-flowing football that excited fans and
pundits alike.

Mourinho, who oversaw his side's 64th undefeated home league fixture in a
row, was disappointed to leak two goals, but delighted with the breathtaking
football on show. 'The wingers produced incredible football, and the strikers
played with great dynamic,' said the manager. 'I always thought we could
score goals, not the kind of game where you feel it's difficult to create or
score. We create and we score. Of course we concede two goals and I don't
like to concede two goals, but that's part of the game and also the
consequence of Birmingham because they played a really good game, but we have
three points, the quality of our game and the quality of our goals.'

There was joy too as we overtook Liverpool's 26-year record, and Mourinho
believes we owe much to players who are no longer with us. 'I think it's a
good way to celebrate our home record in a day where I have to go home and
sit and remember every player that helped us to achieve this record because
some of them are not here with us and I want to remember all of them,
Gudjohnsen, Geremi, Duff, all these guys that had a good participation in
this fantastic record. 'In this moment Chelsea has written its names in the
history books, it's a great record.'

Unbeaten here since his arrival, Mourinho considers that Stamford Bridge must
remain a fortress, and while nobody is unbeatable, we should continue to make
it a difficult place for opponents to visit. I think it has to be
intimidating even when we lose a game. Nobody is unbeatable, one day somebody
comes here and wins,' he said. 'The important thing is when we lose a game we
don't lose the next one, the record is there, it will be I don't know, 69,
79, 89, I don't know. When somebody comes here and beats us the message is
again to go again for a good run of matches at home. In this moment everybody
knows Chelsea is a strong team playing at home.'

Mourinho was full of praise too for Shaun Wright-Phillips, who has been in
blistering form since joining up with the squad for pre-season. 'I think he's
playing very well, last season he had an improvement. This pre-season he
started very, very well, strong since day one, and the players they know that
I try always to be honest and to choose the players that deserve more. Shaun
had a very good pre-season and today played a very good game.

Wright-Phillips is likely to keep his place for forthcoming away dates with
Reading and Liverpool, as the manager has stressed he is not too keen to be
rotating his side at this stage of the season. 'This is a moment where the
players need to play and im not going to make a complete rotation like I
would do if we are in February or March with Champions League matches around
the corner. That's not the situation; they have two more matches to play
during the week,' he said, though he did reveal that there are still injury
worries in the squad, with match winner Michael Essien limping off today.

was impressed with how we shaped up. When asked if we were different from

looked alright to me! Bruce was also in awe of the record we have managed to
achieve, calling it 'staggering' and 'an unbelievable achievement for
[Mourinho] personally and the team'.

two years. For him to come back in the condition he's in we just hope he
stays fit and healthy. For a club like Birmingham to have a natural
goalscorer will be invaluable to us if he stays fit,' he said.
