Columnist and former proud wearer of Chelsea blue, Pat Nevin, has been
listening carefully this past week to the words of fans and a player.

You could not have got a bet on the outcome of Chelsea's game at
Middlesuperbarsarough on Saturday. Only eight minutes in, it just had to be
Didier Drogba who scored the vital goal and be honest, was anyone even
remotely surprised?

It was no surprise either that Frank Lampard, back to his imperious best, was
the provider of that opener. But even though it was great to see the England
midfielder back were he belongs, it couldn't be the story that filled the
back pages.

Drogs had been in the news all week with the less than welcome comments that
were picked up from a French magazine. Though I took them with a pinch of
salt myself, it certainly had a much more profound effect on the majority of
the fans.

I was appearing on Chelsea TV on Friday and the reaction of those Blues fans
who called in took me aback with their anger. More than one felt we should
just get rid of the striker as soon as possible if his heart wasn't in it.

himself I thought it was maybe a trifle harsh to be quite so unforgiving,
even if I understood the anger of the callers at this particularly difficult
time for the club.

I actually found a grain of comfort in his loyalty towards his former
manager. Too often players say how much they want to play for the boss only
to appear to forget him 20 minutes after he leaves.

Drogba obviously had, and still has, a great affection for Jose, so his heart
was undoubtedly ruling his head at the time. This isn't the worst sin in the
world, especially if as I expected he would, he puts his heart and soul into
his performances from then on.

the season. One way or another I have no doubt that tomorrow he will be back
doing his best for the team just as he did on Saturday.

We will certainly need him as the match against Schalke is a must win game
after the slip up at home against Rosenberg. The partnership of Didier and
Frank Lampard at home with both hopefully totally fit, should be enough to
overcome the German side, but it will not be easy.

It is the first of three home games in a row after a difficult but

won. In fact it is worth mentioning that after an understandably turbulent
period the team have only lost one goal in the past five games. This feels
much more like the Chelsea we have been used to over the past couple of
seasons.

Terry was particularly pleasing. One of my correspondents noticed that the
communication at the back looked very good and wondered if it was because
Belletti, Alex, Carvalho and Ferreira are all Portuguese speakers? I wonder
if that was in Avram Grant's thinking when he chose to leave out Ben-Haim on
this occasion?

Rosenberg will be a distant memory if we manage to win and stay on top of the
group at the half way stage but that setback will have served as a warning
that no Champions League games can be taken for granted.

Last week's quiz was another one of my slippery tricky questions. Which
player has a son called Jordi? Many of you suspected that it was Sheva's son
Jordan (apparently named after basketball star Michael Jordan) who is
sometimes called Jordi, but it is in actual fact Michael Ballack's son, whose
real name is Jordi.

This time another tough and pretty strange question. I appeared on a BBC
Radio Five Live programme this week called Fighting Talk. It is available to
download as a free podcast on the BBC website until Saturday and it is quite
a laugh. Do not take anything we say on the show at all seriously, it is just
humour, but the question relates to a Chelsea story I told on the show.
本周的題目同樣具有難度，而且有些搞怪。這個星期我參加了BBC五號頻道的"油嘴滑舌"

Which famous (or infamous) person made the Chelsea team wait for an hour in
the baking sun in the Middle East in 1984? You will not find this one by
googling, so if you do not listen to the podcast you will have to guess to
win the prize of a copy of the Blue Revolution DVD. The only clue is that he
was one of the most famous people on the planet for a period of time.
