巴西拒絕卻爾西百週年友賽

為慶祝卻爾西創立百週年，球會有意邀請巴西國家隊進行友賽，但卻被巴西足總
拒絕。消息指出卻爾西願意付出￡1M酬金邀請巴西國家隊，於11月15或16日前往史丹
福橋球場進行百週年紀念賽，但巴西足總拒絕其邀請，令卻爾西急需尋找另一支勁旅
。
報導說卻爾西會方對於巴西足總的反應感到大惑不解，因較早前西班牙球隊塞維
利亞也作出同樣的邀請，而巴西足總結果以約40萬鎊應邀出席。

Centenary game with Brazil beaten by World Cup

Chelsea has unfortunately had to pull out of a proposed match against
World Cup holders Brazil.
An unprecedented deal was agreed with the five times World Cup
winners to play in a Centenary celebration friendly on November 16th. But
the spectacular event had to be called off because of ongoing uncertainty
about the availability of Chelsea players due to their possible
involvement in World Cup play-offs that week.
A Chelsea statement said: “There was a deal agreed between both
parties for this very prestigious match in order to celebrate our
Centenary.
“That deal was always conditional on Chelsea being able to field a
competitive team for the game but, unfortunately, due to the uncertainty of
various countries playing in potential World Cup play-offs we were not able
to guarantee that team.
“There was always a time limit to confirm the game and we were unable
to meet that due to these circumstances.”
