Johnson was one of the first arrivals of the Roman Abramovich era when Claudio Ranieri brought him to Stamford Bridge from West Ham in July 2003 and he made a bright start to his career in West London. However, he has fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho and has little prospect of forcing his way into the first team picture in the near future. The full back is deeply frustrated with his situation and a loan move could be considered by Blues chief Mourinho. Pompey boss Harry Redknapp attempted to sign Johnson while at Southampton and is certainly a fan as he has instructed Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric to strike a deal with Blues. "We are trying very hard for players and we've met Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho who will try to help us out over Johnson," said Mandaric. "I know Harry would love to bring him here, but we face competition." Newcastle boss Graeme Souness is a fan of Johnson and with The Magpies' defensive shortcomings well documented, they could rival Pompey for his signature should Chelsea give the green light to a loan move. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=352303 Lyon consider Johnson move By Graeme Bailey - Created on 11 Jan 2006 Lyon are ready to make a shock move for Chelsea's Glen Johnson. The England international is currently struggling to gain a regular first team place at Stamford Bridge and a host of clubs have been linked. Portsmouth have indicated their willingness to take Johnson on loan, while a host of other Premiership clubs would no doubt welcome the 21-year-old to their ranks. Now Gerard Houllier is hoping to take advantage of Lyon's good relationship with Chelsea to try and strike a deal for Johnson. Johnson could be tempted by a switch to the French champions, but with the World Cup just six months away he may not want to move abroad at this point. It now remains to be seen whether Lyon will step up their interest and make a concerted effort for the former West Ham full back. -- Carefree, wherever we may be We are the famous CFC! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.57.84.239
