Huth hoping to play first international tournament

The FIFA Confederations Cup begins in Germany today (Wednesday)
with Robert Huth set to increase his international experience.
The competition is a dry run for next summer’s World Cup, to held
in Huth’s homeland, with many of the Confederations Cup games taking
place in new or reconstructed stadiums that have been built for the big
occasion.
The seventh Confederations Cup tournament pits the reigning champion
nations from six continents plus Germany and Olympic champions Argentina
against each other with a group stage comprising two groups of four.
Germany begin their action tonight, taking on Australia in Frankfurt with
a 9pm kick-off local time.
Huth missed Germany’s final warm-up game (a 2-2 draw at home to
Russia a week ago) having been sent off during a win in Northern Ireland
four days earlier. However the big Chelsea centre-back looks likely to
regain his place against Australia after manager Jurgen Klinsmann issued
a vote of confidence in his collective young defence.
Former German World Cup winning captain and manager Franz
Beckenbauer has this week voiced concerns that the defence, most of whom
are under 23, lacks experience and stability.
Klinsmann is reported to have replied: “I am aware that there are a
lot of discussions about our defence. It is a learning curve but we will
not budge from four at the back. The system suits us and we have the
players to fit in.
“We have a young team and players make mistakes. But there is no
team in world football that is perfect.”
The full list of nations taking part is Germany, Australia,
Argentina (who have rested Hernan Crespo from the tournament), Tunisia,
Greece, Brazil, Mexico and Japan.
Germany’s other two group games are against Tunisia on Saturday at
6pm and Argentina next Tuesday, kick-off 8-45pm local time.

上的拙劣表現讓主場球迷“送贈”噓聲給他，也讓今天度過36歲生日的卡恩在大門前
數度蒙羞，難怪卡恩在比賽中朝其怒吼。首先是在第21分鐘，他在禁區邊緣對阿洛伊
西的無謂衝撞犯規被判罰任意球，斯科科抓住機會破門，試想如果在禁區內更是不堪
。
第32分鐘，阿洛伊西更是直接擺脫了胡特在禁區左側突破，胡特並沒有及時封堵
澳大利亞人的出球角度，阿洛伊西在小角度斜射破門。比賽最後時刻的失球，同樣是
阿洛伊西擺脫胡特反越位成功。而在下半場，面對對手一次毫無威脅的右路傳中，胡
特居然在停球和解圍之間猶豫不決從而將皮球漏過，阿洛伊西險些獲得直面大門的機
會。同西甲中下游奧薩蘇納的替補前鋒較量全處下風，依靠如此表現，胡特希望在切
爾西立足似乎過於痴心，而克林斯曼則需要考慮更多的解決方案了。

Huth in Germany victory

Robert Huth played the full 90 minutes as the host nation narrowly
overcame Australia in a high-scoring start to their Confederations Cup
campaign on Wednesday night.
Germany’s young defence will be looking to tighten up for the
remainder of the competition having conceded three goals but in an
exciting encounter in Frankfurt, Jurgen Klinsmann’s side ran out 4-3
winners.
Huth was booked for a barge on the edge of the area 20 minutes into
the game, the free-kick resulting in an Australian equaliser. The
Germans had taken an early lead through Kevin Kuranyi who played for
Stuttgart against Chelsea two seasons ago.
The visiting Australians went in level at the break after another
goal a piece but a second-half Michael Ballack penalty and late goal
looked to have established a cushion before former Portsmouth and
Coventry striker John Aloisi made it close once more in the final minute.
The game was Huth’s seventh cap. Germany are in action again on
Saturday when they play Tunisia.
