Once again against non-League opposition Chelsea Reserves reverted
to a 4-3-3 shape and against ultra-defensive opposition worked hard to
earn a 3-0 win tonight, Tuesday.
Wingate & Finchley kept a bank of ten players behind the ball with
their 4-5-1 formation, and Chelsea found it hard to break through. But
the first goal came when Joe Keenan flicked the ball round a corner and
Phil Younghusband smashed it in.
Things were a little more open in the second-half and Keenan took
Filipe Morais’ pass and curled in the second goal. Morais then scored
their third from Jamie Simmonds’ square ball.
Now that the first Premier Reserve League game is not until August
15th, coach Mick McGiven is hoping to have one extra friendly before the
start of the season.
