http://www.chelseafc.com/article.asp?hlid=302780 Saints host Reserves Tuesday, Aug 30, 2005 Anthony Grant will play his first reserve fixture of the season this evening as the second string journey to the south coast to take on Southampton. Eighteen year-old Grant, who made his first team debut at Old Trafford at the end of last season, gave up his deep-lying midfield position to £3 million summer signing Lassana Diarra in the first reserve game a fortnight ago. But with Diarra on duty for France Under 21s, Grant resumes the role he made his own last season. Alongside him will be Jimmy Smith, coming in for Jiri Jarosik, now on loan at Birmingham and while pacy Joe Tillen is the left-back. He is named in place of Wayne Bridge who was given a run-out in the opening reserve fixture against Spurs, a game that ended in a 2-0 defeat. Steven Watt remains on the injured list. It will be unchanged forward line tonight so a forward line of Filipe Morais, Philip Younghusband and recent arrival from Switzerland, Jonas Elmer, will be keen to register the first reserve team strike of the season. Also in the squad but not selected is 16 year-old left-back Ryan Bertrand whose X-ray following Saturday’s youth fixture showed no damage to his hand. Southampton will have their Swedish international Michael Svensson in central defence. He is nearing the end of an 18 month comeback from injury and this will be his fourth consecutive reserve game. The Saints won their opening reserve fixture, 1-0 at Norwich with the goal coming from David McGoldrick. The Chelsea line-up tonight is: (4-3-3) Lenny Pidgeley Dean Smith Michael Mancienne Adrian Pettigrew Joe Tillen Jimmy Smith Anthony Grant Danny Hollands (c) Filipe Morais Jonas Elmer Philip Younghusband Subs: Yves Ma Kalambay, Dean Furman, James Simmonds, James Younghusband, Jack Watkins. by Paul Mason -- Carefree, wherever we may be We are the famous CFC! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.57.97.164
