Hibs close to Chelsea deal

Chelsea officials are set to open discussions with Hibernian in an
attempt to agree a link-up between the clubs. Blues representatives will
travel to Scotland to watch Hibs' game against Rangers next week, and
while there will try to negotiate a deal that allows them to tap into
their successful youth system.
In return the Edinburgh club will be able to recruit Chelsea's
youngsters or reserve players on loan, a prospect that is already exciting
manager Tony Mowbray.
"I've seen Chelsea's reserves play a few times and had a look at some
of their young players, but at the moment we are just thinking about
potential areas where we might need to bring people in," he commented.
But Mowbray has advised Hibs officials not to get drawn into a
contract just because it is Chelsea they are talking to, and they must
hold out for a fair deal.
"We need to have more talks with them and see what we are going to
do. Everything needs to be right for both clubs if anything is going to be
done," he urged. "Just because it's Chelsea doesn't mean it'll work
perfectly, but they are coming down next week for a chat and hopefully
that'll firm things up between the clubs."
