Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Michael Ballack had an operation on
his ankle injury yesterday.

巴拉克在昨天進行了腳踝手術。


The injury was sustained during the Barclays Premiership game against
Newcastle United last Sunday.

Our dreams of a quadruple took a severe dent when we surprisingly
squandered two points at home to a depleted Bolton side.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, Jose Mourinho reported post-match that
the knee injury to centre back Ricardo Carvalho, which saw him substituted
on 28 minutes, would rule him out of Tuesday night's Champions League
second-leg tie at Anfield.

但情況似乎更糟，因為卡瓦略受傷，將不能出席週中的歐冠。


"Ricardo is bad," Mourinho lamented. "He's out for Tuesday. Our best
defender for the whole season - how big a blow is that?" queried the head
coach rhetorically.

"We lost in Liverpool without him in the Premiership and we play again
there without him. Last time we had to play with Paulo [Ferreira] at
centre-back but in this moment we have better options than to play Paulo
at centre-back."

With nine points still available and Manchester United leading the race by
five points (and of course a far superior goal difference), the odds are
heavily stacked against us retaining our title. But Mourinho will not
concede the crown until it is mathematically certain.

"It is almost over but in football almost is a big question mark," he said
positively. "There is a chance and you have to chase the opportunity you
have and wait for news. We have to win and we have to wait. Manchester
United have to lose two matches and Chelsea have to win all three.

"I would think Manchester United are feeling very close and don't feel the
pressure, feel quite comfortable. They can come to Stamford Bridge and
lose and still be champions. But almost is almost."
