Neil Barnett has been writing, editing and broadcasting for Chelsea for
over 20 years. He makes a plea to several players in the squad.


Yes, Graham Poll lost us the game at Tottenham, but so did our defensive
errors. We need to look at ourselves first.

Jose Mourinho was clear on the goals conceded in his Chelsea TV interview
which you can see tonight. ‘Chelsea errors, not Mr Poll errors.'

I have a plea to several players in our squad. Make the right-back
position your own.

We have three players who have represented their country at right-back
this season: Paulo Ferreira, Khalid Boulahrouz and Geremi. One of them has
to step forward and make claim to the position at Chelsea. We need a John
Terry, a Frank Lampard, a Didier Drogba to secure the position for
themselves.

to Barcelona. Geri had terrific games at Fulham and at home to Aston
Villa. Who will step forward? Who will cut out the mistakes?

It isn't a simple situation. There's the question of covering midfielders
and defenders, and of course of three different goalkeepers with different
styles having played. But all the defenders have that.

It's important for each of their careers that they stand out. Down at
Portsmouth Glen Johnson is gaining experience and growing in stature as a

It was actually another cracking Chelsea game yesterday, but felt
appalling because we lost. The disallowing of Drogba's goal for an
incident in which Terry was holding that was impossible to see, and the
sending off of Terry for a holding incident which was impossible to see,
continues the unfortunate saga of last season's FA Cup semi-final. That
was when referee Poll whistled up Terry for the foul which led to
Liverpool's first goal when it was high boot against high boot, and then
disallowed Terry's goal that would have been the equaliser.

不過昨天切爾西的失利還是另有原因的，輸球讓我們很失望。德羅巴進球被判無效，
原因是特里犯規了，但是那幾乎是無中生有，特里被罰下也是一樣荒謬。這是去年切

If Poll feels that Terry needs singling out for punishment, then Chelsea
and Terry need to sort it out with him in a calm way because it's not
going to do anyone any good in the long run.

如果波爾認為特里應該受到懲罰，切爾西和特里都這樣平靜的面對此事，在賽季長跑

We've lost the equity we had with Manchester United at the top of the
table and we've lost the Tottenham record we so enjoyed. But we haven't
lost anything important yet. Salomon Kalou and Arjen Robben so nearly
equalised even when we were down to ten men, the Premiership is not yet
one-third completed and, despite what many people in the media would have
you think, we are currently the most entertaining team in the land.

現在我們不能在聯賽積分榜上和曼聯並駕齊驅，我們對熱刺的不敗歷史也被打破。但
是我們並不會消沉下去。雖然我們在比賽中只有10個人，但是卡盧和羅本的表現讓我

All we need now is to win our next three League games: Watford at home,
West Ham at home and Manchester United away. And at the end of them —
with Aston Villa in the Carling Cup and Werder Bremen in the Champions
League faced in the same period — it would be lovely if a right-back was
saying to Jose: ‘Pick me because this position is now mine!’

我們現在要做的就是拿下隨後的三場聯賽：主場對沃特福德和西漢姆，客場對曼聯。
還有週中聯賽盃對維拉和冠軍盃對不萊梅。到時候希望某位右後衛能自信對何塞說：
“讓我上吧，我可以主宰這個位置！”
