JOE COLE: WHEN THE TALKING STOPS

At four o'clock this afternoon, all the words leading up to the biggest
Premiership match of the season so far will cease and the football will
begin. That moment can't come soon enough for Joe Cole.

Rather than what comes out of mouths beforehand, it's what is in the minds
of players at kick-off Cole believes is the key factor.

'When two big clubs come together, it is about who wants it more on the
day - who has got the nerve, the composure and the fire.

'This year Man United have set a new challenge for us. We've got to chase
them down but there is certainly no nervousness or apprehension. We're all

'It is a just a different challenge. By Christmas we would certainly want
to have caught them up or be ahead of them.

'I don't think the pressure is any different chasing a team or being
chased because you still have to go out there and win.'

Cole highlights the midfield area as where Man United have most raised
their game this season.

'Michael Carrick's come in and done well for them. They needed strength in
midfield. Scholes is back and that makes a big difference.

'But Arsenal went up to Old Trafford and played some good stuff. I was
watching the game that day and they passed the ball well and deserved the
win.

'If we do play a diamond, we should control midfield and have more
possession and on a big pitch like Old Trafford, if you keep the ball well
then that is half the battle.

'We will meet them head on and the first 20 minutes will set the tone for
the game,' Cole continues, echoing the thoughts of his colleague Frank
Lampard.

'The ref has got an important part to play. It's an English game with a
lot of English players and there is going to be a lot of tackles flying
