It was a new Jose Mourinho who sat down to discuss the draw at Arsenal. A Jose
Mourinho who for the first time as Chelsea manager was not a reigning league
champion.

Instead Mourinho claimed the final away game had encapsulated quite neatly the
key points he had been making about this troublesome season throughout the
past few months.

'Chelsea goes into the game, is the best team, but is without big
ammunition,without very strong attacking players,' he began.

'That is the spirit Chelsea play with all the time. This is down to a special

Instead we had to make do with Arsene Wenger's reading of the game. Nipping
away from his team's lap of appreciation to speak to the press, his early
arrival coincided with Mourinho still midway through his live televised
post-match interview.

Those that did listen to Wenger heard confirmation a popular view of his

15 minutes of the first-half, we took over and you could feel we were starting
to be dangerous,' the Arsenal boss reckoned.

was accompanied by his long-time assistant Baltemar Brito, a sign of
solidarity that is the norm at times of defeat or major set-back.
