Stamford Bridge's final game of the season was a special day for a member of
the British armed forces who had been injured on duty in Iraq.

Twenty-three-year-old soldier Steve Shiner had his entire left leg amputated
after the Challenger II tank he was in was blown up.

An avid Chelsea fan from Paddington in London, Steve had even been displaying
a Chelsea flag on the tank when it was hit.

He was transported back to a hospital in Birmingham where he has been
recovering since but was invited for a day at the Everton game to lift
spirits. He met his big football idol, Frank Lampard.

He was joined by his younger brother Christopher in being taken onto the
pitch and given two signed shirts.

'I'll never forget it,' Steve said afterwards.

'I was a bit awe-struck meeting Frank and all the other stars, but they all
made me feel so much at home.

'I love Chelsea and it gave me a great thrill going out on operations with
the flag flying. It was a real morale-booster.

'I woke up two days later in the hospital and I've been there ever since,' he
recalled of the aftermath of the attack. '

'Despite losing my leg, I'm making good progress.'

Frank Lampard added: 'Steve has shown unbelievable bravery to overcome his
injury the way he has. I hope his coming to the game helped that process in
some way.'

夠為他的恢復起到一定的幫助作用。"
