John Terry has given an insight into the mood in the camp in recent days as
the big Wembley showpiece approaches.

anticipate either will have too tough a time firing the team up to face
Manchester United. The pain of Barclays Premiership and Champions League

As he prepares for his first Wembley Cup Final since he was an unused, and to

because his other FA Cup Final experience, an illness-affected day in Cardiff
five years back, ended in defeat by Arsenal.

'We have all felt that way, that this is a competition we as a team haven't
won yet,' Terry said, 'like the Carling Cup two years ago when it was a first
chance to win a trophy together.

'It is like not having won the Champions League together. If we can keep

'I have not been too happy recently but that is the same for all the lads,'
he reveals, 'and it is good to see. The last thing I would have wanted was to
get knocked out of the Champions League, lose the Premiership and be happy,
and it has been nice to see everyone mopping about a bit.

'I certainly didn't like it,' he adds on the experience of clapping Man
United onto the Stamford Bridge pitch last Wednesday, 'as I'm sure they
didn't like it two years ago.

'But it is part and parcel of the game and we both showed respect.'

Terry admits that Saturday's opponents have been in outstanding form this
season and numbers five or six of their players as exceptional over the past
nine months. But he still insists victory for Chelsea at Wembley would strike
an important blow back for his club.

'It is important. If we do win we can go off on our holidays and be able to

Premiership. Even though they have that, they will have to wait until next
season to get that winning feeling back again.

'It is safe to say all the lads will be fired up but that is not to say Man
United won't be. They have a great side with a lot of English boys who know
what the FA Cup means to their fans and their club.

'It is a great trophy and the first one at the new Wembley. That is another
reason to be fired up.'

JT has another, very personal reason for wanting to ensure a happy outcome on
the new pitch. His twin babies, born one year ago, are the reason.

'It is their birthday the day before the Cup Final and they will be there.
The party will be after and hopefully we can combine the two celebrations.'
