CHELSEA AND AFC BUILD FORMAL PARTNERSHIP

Chelsea Football Club today signed an official contract with the Asian
Football Confederation (AFC) to support the AFC's revolutionary football
development programme Vision Asia. The contract was signed at the AFC's
headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, by Chelsea FC chief executive
Peter Kenyon and AFC president Mohamed Bin Hammam.
切爾西足球俱樂部今天與亞洲足球聯合會(AFC，簡稱亞足聯)簽訂了一份官方協議，
以支持亞足聯革命性足球發展計畫“亞洲展望”。該協議在亞足聯在馬來西亞吉隆坡
的總部由切爾西足球俱樂部首席執行官肯揚和亞足聯主席穆罕默德˙本˙哈曼共同簽
署。
Vision Asia is a grand plan for a continent-wide programme to raise the
standards of Asian football at all levels, be it on the field of play,
administration or sports science. It is the creation of Bin Hammam, who
launched the programme in September 2002.
“亞洲展望”是一個為在整個大洲範圍內從各方面，包括競技水平、管理和體育科學
等，提高亞洲足球水平的重要計畫。該計畫由本˙哈曼首創，開始於2002年9月。
The president firmly believes that Asia, with its 3.7 billion population,
has the potential to produce many world-class footballing nations. His
ultimate goal is for an Asian team to one day win the FIFA World Cup.

Vision Asia has the support of world governing body FIFA, whose president
Sepp Blatter told the world that 'The future is Asia'. AFC has since
adopted the phrase as its motto.
“亞洲展望”計畫得到了世界足球管理機構國際足聯(FIFA)的支持，主席布拉特告訴
全世界“未來就是亞洲”。亞足聯從此將這句話變成了他們的格言。
In April 2006, Chelsea signed a memorandum of understanding to back the
project, prompting Bin Hammam to declare it 'a historic moment' because
'this is the first time a European club came to Asia to give and not to
take from us'.
2006年4月，切爾西俱樂部就支持該工程簽訂了一份諒解備忘錄，支持本˙哈曼宣布

Kenyon said: 'It fits absolutely with Chelsea's strategy of being one of
the big clubs by 2014, it would not be possible without considering Asia.
We have been watching the development of Asian football from distance, and
fully understand the future is Asia. It is time for Chelsea to decide to
join-in-hand with the AFC.

'Chelsea's mission is to build success, not buy success. This is directly
compatible with the AFC's plans. From what I've seen today with AFC's
development programme, Vision Asia, it will not be long before Asian
football is on a par with European football.

logical, quality programmes that provide long-term benefits. This is
definitely where Chelsea wants to be positioned also.'
