The announcement with web partners MediaCorp took place at a ceremony set up by Chelsea FC's Official Club Sponsors Samsung in Seoul, the capital of Korea. Senior officials from Chelsea, MediaCorp and Samsung were all present. Korea is a key strategic market for Chelsea following our five year partnership with Samsung which began in 2005. The launch of the new website represents the latest development in Chelsea's new media strategy abroad. In January the club unveiled our first Mandarin language website for China and there are plans for further websites in other key overseas markets. Chelsea CEO Peter Kenyon said: 'We are delighted to be launching this website with our partner MediaCorp. 'Korea is very important to Chelsea, especially because of our partnership with Samsung. We see the launch of our Korean language website as the first in a number of exciting initiatives that we will be undertaking, many of which will be with Samsung. 'The new website will give our Korean supporters a fan friendly service in their native language and tailored to their football culture. We are replicating the approach we started in other key countries such as China.' Mr Y J Choi, Chief Executive Officer of Mediacorp said: 'The passion of Korean football fans was demonstrated to the world during the Korea-Japan World Cup in 2002. 'Now I am pleased to cater for the Korean football fans' high demand to learn more about Chelsea by receiving real-time news and improved game analysis. This website will also provide Korean Blues fans with an excellent platform for delivering not only news but also an interactive fans forum with fan content.' Mr I Y Rhee, Senior Vice President of Samsung Corporate PR, added: 'Samsung is very proud to be the Official Club Sponsor of Chelsea FC. In the two years since we became partners, both Samsung and Chelsea have gone from strength to strength. 'Now as part of our shared vision to "Turn the World Blue", we are delighted to support our friends' expansion into our own home market of Korea.' The connections between Chelsea and Samsung will be extended this summer when the Samsung Bluewings take part in a four-team tournament in Los Angeles with Chelsea, LA Galaxy and Tigres. Chelsea last played the Bluewings in Seoul in May 2005 to celebrate the signing of the sponsorship agreement.
