Chelsea's Spy In The Camp has been bringing inside news, banter and
comment for 20 years in the matchday programme, on Chelsea TV and now on
the web. Today he charts how we are running out of goalkeepers.

How could we finish with only one goalkeeper in the squad for Tuesday's
Champions League game, and our reserve reserve-team goalkeeper travelling
up to Birmingham just for lunch on the same day?

It's not been a good season for Chelsea goalkeepers. Petr Cech missed the
start after shoulders surgery - a planned late start for him following the
World Cup - played eight games and then suffered his fractured skull
against Reading and that put him out for several months.

Carlo Cudicini was carried off unconscious in the same game and so missed

Yves Makabu-Ma Kalambay is our other Uefa registered goalkeeper. He sat on
the bench when Petr and Carlo were injured earlier in the season,
including for the home game with Barcelona, but he underwent knee surgery
last month and so was unavailable on Tuesday.

The club thus asked Uefa if Magnus Hedman, who joined after the Uefa 31
August deadline, could have special dispensation to sit on the bench, but
that wasn't granted. What a good job Hilario did not get injured in
training on Monday evening or fall ill on Tuesday morning.

But matters were even worse. Our last two outfield players to be emergency
goalkeepers weren't available either. John Terry was suspended and Glen
Johnson on loan at Portsmouth. Thus Didier Drogba was given the job of
emergency goalkeeper if required.

But further down the Chelsea goalkeeping roster all has not been well
either. The reserves took two goalkeepers to play Aston Villa on Tuesday,
neither of whom were the injured Ma Kalambay.

Nick Hamann, 19, was due to play. He missed the start of the season after
being poisoned by a tic in a German forest over summer which hospitalised
him. When he got fit he broke his metatarsal in his first full training
session. He's okay now.

James Russell, also 19, is the one keeper to have been free of injury this
season.

But neither played against Villa as the game was called off and their
six-hours return journey achieved no more than lunch.

Our 16 year old youth team goalkeeper is Rhys Taylor. He's played three
games for us this season and suffered two torn thigh muscles, the first
while keeping goal for Wales Under-19s.

肉拉傷，其中一次是為威爾士19歲以下青年隊踢球時造成的。


If you happen to be in the vicinity of the training ground today, or
Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and someone offers you a pair of goalkeeping
gloves to keep warm, think very carefully before accepting them!

給你一副守門員的手套以讓你更加暖和，在接受之前，你最好仔細考慮清楚。
