Michael Ballack, preparing for his first Chelsea-Arsenal derby, has backed
Ashley Cole to shrug off any bad reaction from his former fans.

The August transfer that saw Cole leave Arsenal in the summer, following a
deterioration in the player's relationship with the club, is felt keenly in
the red-shirted part of north London, as William Gallas's move the other way
is by many Chelsea fans.

But Ballack has noticed no signs of concern from the new Chelsea left-back as

'The way it is with former teams, it is difficult and sometimes the fans are
not happy but that is just the way things are.

Ballack knows Lehmann well from their time together in the German national
side.
'It depends what the criticism is,' he reckons. 'It is typical when you play

an advantage if you are at home.

'Hopefully our fans will be right behind us but as with all derbies, I think
it will be a hard-fought game.

'It is not just about physical play, it is about good football as well. And
we have got a good mix so it really depends on the opponent.
'We have got a coach who approaches different games in different styles
depending on the opposition.
'Arsenal are a very good team and it will be a battle in midfield so we are
looking forward it.

'We have to remain cool and not be distracted by the lead Man United may have
after Saturday. Just concentrate on Sunday's game and hopefully we can catch
up those points in the coming weeks.'
