SQUAD REMAINS THE SAME FOR DERBY DAY

There are no new injury concerns nor any players returning to the squad
for Saturday's local derby against Fulham. That is the report from
assistant manager Steve Clarke after Friday's final training session.

'We go with same squad as the previous game,' Clarke told Chelsea TV.

That means the continuing absence of Carlo Cudicini (thigh), Arjen
Robben (hamstring), John Terry (back), Petr Cech (head), Joe Cole (foot)
plus Khalid Boulahrouz who is suspended for Saturday's game.

Much of the talk following the dropped points from Boxing Day's game has
concerned Chelsea's defending in the absence of skipper Terry. Six goals
have been conceded in the four games and Jose Mourinho admitted to a
problem in his post-match analysis.

'We are leaking goals we don't normally leak,' agrees Clarke. 'We won two
of the games when conceded in so that was not a drama. We dropped two
points against Reading which was disappointing but over the course of a
season, you are going to have disappointing days and you have to bounce
back from it.

'In that last game, Reading only had one shot on target but scored two
goals and overall if you look at the game, the defending wasn't too bad.'

The draw did however see the gap at the top of the Barclays Premiership
extend from two to four points.

'They don't hand out any trophies at this time of the year,' counters
Clarke. 'We would prefer it if the gap wasn't there or was in our favour
but it is not a big drama, it is just one weekend of football really.

'If we win and they lose, it is suddenly one point. The media want to talk
about the gap to make it more interesting but we don't, we just
concentrate on what we have to do which is win matches.'

The first of those matches to win is the most local of all London derbies
as Fulham travel a mile-and-a-half across SW6.

'It is a very big game and they always want to beat us so we expect a big
test,' says Jose Mourinho's right-hand man. 'We are ready for that.'

One member of Chelsea's squad knows the Cottagers better than anyone
having spent the second-half of last season on loan at Fulham. Wayne
Bridge believes it is the public more than the players that sees this
fixture as by far the biggest of the season.

'I think that Chris Coleman looks at every London game as a big derby,'
Bridge told chelseafc.com. 'When they played West Ham the other day, he
called that a big derby.

season but that was because Chelsea were champions. I didn't see the
massive rivalry from the players. It was from the fans.

'It felt strange to me because I never knew it was like that while I was
at Chelsea before. I never saw that from the Chelsea fans.

'When I was there I thought they had a team that should be higher up in
the league than they were,' he adds. 'I have not watched Fulham as much
this season but they have players capable of turning games.

'They have a few out injured at the moment but I think they have a squad
capable of being higher. Steed Malbranque was a great player when you saw
him training everyday but I don't think they have missed him as much as
they thought they would,' reckons Bridge following the sale of the French
creative force to Tottenham.

'I think maybe they need another centre-back but Liam Rosenior at
right-back does really well. Volz works really hard. Queudrue is an
established Premiership player and they have a good goalie in Niemi.'

Bridge also warns against the aerial threat of striker Brian McBride who
scored in the corresponding fixture last season.

and gives you no room. He is a very aggressive player and Fulham are a
team that work hard and won't lie down and just roll over.

'There are a few players that are handfuls but it is a game we have go to
look to win and make sure we keep the gap at the top the same - or close
it.

'I don't think the gap is anything to worry about. We were further behind
and we caught up a few weeks ago so it can close again. Fulham is a game
we are more than capable of winning, even though they have got a good
squad.'
