Chelsea Youth succumbed quickly in Saturday's top of the table clash and
were well beaten by a good Arsenal performance.

For manager Ruud Kaiser it was a perplexing morning. 'On Friday we had a
really good training session. All the boys looked really focussed. Then
the game started and they were sloppy and under-performed. Arsenal looked
the better side.'

One partial explanation might have been the number of players who had been
abroad the week before. Nine of the squad were in Valencia with the
reserves, flying back on Wednesday afternoon, and two were in Portugal
with Portugal Under-18s, flying back on Thursday evening.

'It was like a Champions League week, but we were not seeing Champions
League players,' Ruud said. 'But we know with young players, sometimes
they are really flying and sometimes they are brought down to earth when
they are sloppy.

'The one and two-touch, pass and move football that is normally us wasn't
there, but Arsenal did it. We kept giving the ball away when there was no
pressure.

silly goal.

Ruud said, 'and Jonas Elmer did well too. But we had too many
under-performing.'

The next youth game is on Friday away to Fulham at Motspur Park, 1.30pm
