Ballack boosts UN campaign against AIDS

Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has taken a prominent role in the campaign
against the spread of HIV around the world by becoming a United Nations AIDS
Special Representative.

切爾西中場球員，米夏埃爾·巴拉克近日成為了聯合國防治愛滋病特邀大使，他在為防止愛
滋病在全球蔓延而舉辦的活動中扮演了重要的角色。


The German skipper has made a promotional video with the message 'Show AIDS
the Red Card', while recovering from the hamstring injury that he picked up on
international duty last week.

處於養傷期間的德國隊長拍攝了一段推廣防艾主題的錄影，向人們傳達了"給愛滋病亮紅
牌"的訊息;在上周的一場國際比賽中他腿部肌肉受傷。


Regarding matters on the pitch, Ballack remains confident that Chelsea can run
Manchester United all the way in the current English title race, despite their
long injury list and a six-point deficit in the table.

至於比賽，巴拉克仍然信心十足，他認為切爾西能夠在眼下的冠軍爭奪戰中一路緊追曼聯，

German captain and Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has a new goal in his
career - reaching out to young football supporters around the world and
helping them to make the right choices in their lives to prevent the spread
of HIV and AIDS.

德國隊長兼切爾西中場米夏埃爾·巴拉克在他的職業生涯中有了一個新目標-親近世界各
地年輕的球迷們，並幫助他們在人生道路上作出正確的選擇以防止愛滋病的蔓延。


The 30-year-old midfielder, one of the most famous players on the planet, has
agreed to become a UNAIDS Special Representative, an honour he says he couldn't
possibly turn down.

作為世界上最著名的球星之一，三十歲的巴拉克願意成為聯合國防艾特使；他說這是自
己不可能拒絕的榮譽。


"Well, I think AIDS is everybody's business. They (the United Nations) asked
me and of course I will help. I think football is the most popular sport in
the world. A lot of people know footballers, they look up to us and so I
think we should fight AIDS together.": Michael Ballack, UNAIDS Special
Representative.

"我認為愛滋病問題關係到所有人。他們[聯合國]來找過我，我當然會幫忙。我認為足球
是 世界上最受歡迎的運動。很多人都認識足球明星，他們仰慕我們，所以我覺得我們應
該並肩作戰共抗艾滋。"


Ballack has been sidelined recently with a torn hamstring, one of several
injuries to key players striking English champions Chelsea at a vital time in
the season.

巴拉克最近由於腿部肌肉撕裂而坐在了替補席上，他是本賽季英超冠軍切爾西在這個生
死攸關的當口受傷的關鍵球員之一。


The German skipper could be out of action until March, but hopes to be back
before then.

In any case, he says, Chelsea have the resources in their squad to chase down
current Premiership leaders Manchester United, who are six points clear of
'The Blues' in the table.

"Yes, we try... but at the moment we are six points behind Man U, but it's not

During the video, Ballack delivers a key HIV prevention message, while at the
same time displaying his footballing skills on the Stamford Bridge pitch.

在影片中，巴拉克在斯坦福橋球場上展示自己的球技的同時也傳達了重要的防艾訊息。


AIDS statistics are shown on the stadium's big screen: 'During the course of
a 90 minute football match more than 500 people will have died of AIDS, 180
under 25 years old'.

體育場的大螢幕上顯示著有關愛滋病的統計數字：'在一場足球比賽的90分鐘時間內，有超
過500人死於愛滋病，其中180人在25歲以下。'


After reading the statistics, Ballack switches from player to referee - blowing
his whistle, shaking his head and rather than holding out a red card, he holds
up a red condom.

The message is: The AIDS epidemic must stop and there is one very simple way -
HIV prevention!
