MICHAEL TO RECLAIM CENTRE GROUND?

Seven days after an anticipated return to his more accustomed position
failed to take place, one of the questions to be answered against Norwich
today is whether Michael Essien will be restored to the Chelsea midfield.

七天前回到中場的願望終究沒有達成，埃辛對上諾維奇是否要繼續打中衛呢？


After winning at Charlton on February 1, Jose Mourinho declared his wish
that the Ghanaian had played in central defence for the final time. The
scheduled return of John Terry to the starting line-up against Blackburn
last Saturday was the catalyst for this hope.

2月1號戰勝查爾頓後，莫里老大就宣稱迦納人要離開中衛的位置，因為隊長回歸了。


But when Ricardo Carvalho was struck with illness a week ago, Essien once
again found himself back in the position he has filled since early
January.

不過卡瓦略稍早的生病讓這個計畫繼續推遲。


Assistant manager Steve Clarke refused to be drawn on where or if the
player would be deployed against Norwich as he looked forward to the
game. The FA Cup third round against Macclesfield remains the only time
this season he was not selected for the starting eleven.

克拉克大叔仍未確定埃辛對上金斯雀時會出現在什麼位置或是會否上場，足總盃第三
輪對上馬克萊斯菲爾德是埃辛唯一沒有先發的比賽。


But Clarke did confirm Essien's powerhouse play had been missed in the
centre of the park.

不過克拉克認為埃辛仍然要在中場才能發揮全力。


'He is great player anywhere and he has proved his versatility,' he said.
'But his preferred position is midfield and we are happy when we have him
in there because he gives an extra dimension to the team.'

 "他是一名猛將，他證明了自己的多樣性，但是他最理想的位置仍是中場，如果他能
回到那裡我們會感到非常開心。"


Meanwhile, John Terry couldn't help but be impressed with his stand-in as
he watched from the sidelines.

隊長稱讚了野牛的臨時補上崗位。


'When Michael went back there, it was a case of him being the best option
left in the side,' said the captain. 'But honestly, he has been different
class. If he is worth ￡24 million as a midfielder, he'd be worth ￡52
million as a centre-half, that's for sure.

 "埃辛後衛打得不錯，如果他在中場值2400萬，那他在後衛就值5200萬!!"


'Week in, week out, he has been one of our best players throughout the
season.'

 "一週一週過去，他成為我們本季最好的球員之一。"
