Chelsea confident over duo
By Peter ORourke - Created on 19 Feb 2007
Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck is confident John Terry and Frank Lampard will sign
new deals at the club.
The reigning champions are locked in talks with the influential pair as they
look to secure their long-term futures.
Terry is thought to be close to inking a new deal, but Lampard's future has
been the subject of speculation with Barcelona thought to be monitoring his
situation.
Lampard's agent had suggested contract talks had stalled with rumours
suggesting the England international could invoke a Fifa rule which would
allow him to leave at the end of this season.
However, Chelsea remain hopeful Lampard and Terry will decide to stay at
Stamford Bridge.
"We're in the process of renegotiating contracts for Frank Lampard and John
Terry and there is goodwill on both sides in both of those discussions," Buck
told Sky Sports News.
"I am hopeful that both will sign revised contracts and be here in the long
term."
