Makelele Closing In On Chelsea Move
Speculation is growing that Chelsea are to seal the signing on
Real Madrid's Claude Makelele before Sunday's transfer deadline.
The big spending London club are understood to have held talks
with the French international after he was left out of last night's
Supercopa victory against Real Mallorca.
Makelele has fallen out with the Spanish champions over a pay dispute
and looks to be able to leave the Bernabeu despite playing a pivotal
role in the team.
The tough-tackling midfielder would cost a reported 15m euroes, which
would take the spending under Roman Abramovich this summer over the
?00m mark.
The Blues have already signed Geremi from Real Madrid along with the
likes of Juan Sebastian Veron, Damien Duff, Hernan Crespo and Adrian Mutu.
