http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/3223434.stm Chelsea trip in doubt Uefa has refused to rule out the possibility of ordering Chelsea's Champions League match against Besiktas to be played at a neutral venue. European football's governing body may step in to move the game, scheduled for 9 December, following Thursday's bombings in Istanbul. Postponing the game could also be an option, though Uefa is believed to favour a switch of grounds. The Foreign Office have advised against travel to the city after two bombs killed at least 27 people and 450 were injured. Uefa has also confirmed the Champions League Group D tie between Turkish side Galatasaray and Italy's Juventus has been postponed until 2 December. Major safety fears were raised by Thursday's bomb attacks on the British consulate and the HSBC bank headquarters in Istanbul, which killed 26 and injured more than 490. Chelsea had already advised fans not to travel, even before Thursday's terrorist attacks. The club has decided not to take up their ticket allocation and had asked Uefa to liaise with government and football authorities on their behalf. We hope our fans will understand why we have taken this decision and we share their understandable disappointment," said Chelsea interim chief executive Paul Smith. "In the end, though, their security had to be our main priority." Uefa told BBC Sport it was investigating the situation and that a statement clarifying the prospect of the match being moved or postponed would be issued on Thursday. In October 2001, six Chelsea players refused to travel to Tel Aviv for a Uefa Cup tie with Hapoel because of security fears. The club travelled with a depleted squad and lost the first leg 2-0 before being knocked out in a 1-1 second leg draw at Stamford Bridge. As well as Galatasaray's Champions League tie with Juventus, the Uefa Cup second round second-leg tie between Israel's Maccabi Haifa and Spanish side Valencia, due to take place next Thursday at the Alsancak Stadium in Izmir, has been postponed. A new date and venue for the match, which was moved to Turkey because of security concerns in Israel, has yet to be fixed. -- 我愛我老婆 ~~~~ Aarita ~~~ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.167.33.219
