Chelsea deny 'new Lampard deal' report
Chelsea have denied that they are about to offer midfielder Frank Lampard
a new contract doubling his wages.
Lampard has been in outstanding form for the Premiership leaders this
season but the club will not be reviewing any players' contracts until the
summer.
The former West Ham star, who is believed to earn around £ 40,000 a week,
still has two years left on the deal he signed following his £ 11 million
move from Upton Park in 2001.
Chelsea acting chief executive Paul Smith told the London Evening Standard:
'It's club policy to review all our contracts at the end of the season and not
before.
'Frank may feel he deserves a new contract after his great performances
this season, but nothing will be discussed before the summer.
'He needn't worry, as Roman Abramovich is not shy about rewarding his
players.'
Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri has urged his side to go all out for victory in
their final Champions League Group G fixture tomorrow.
The Blues need just one point from their clash with Turkish side Besiktas
in Gelsenkirchen to clinch top spot in the group and a favourable draw in the
last 16.
Ranieri, however, will not be satisfied with a draw and is determined that
his side should avenge their 2-0 reverse to the same opponents earlier in the
competition.
Besiktas, currently second in the group, also need points to prevent
either Sparta Prague or Lazio overtaking them and Ranieri believes that should
make for a good game.
The Italian said: 'Besiktas must attack because they need the points.
'Maybe that will be better for us because at Stamford Bridge they defended
very deeply and played on the counter-attack.
'Besiktas are top of the Turkish league but we are ready to get the result
we need.
'We will be trying to win the game. We won't just be going for the point.
Our philosophy is to win and we won't change that.'
Besiktas are one of just two sides to have beaten Premiership leaders
Chelsea this season, the other being London rivals Arsenal.
Tomorrow's match has been switched to the home of Bundesliga side Schalke
due to security concerns in Turkey.
Chelsea will travel to Germany without Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo,
who suffered a calf injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Leeds.
Midfielders Claude Makelele and Joe Cole were both declared fit enough to
make the trip after suffering knocks at Elland Road.
Ranieri added: 'I spoke to Claude this morning and he said he's in good
shape and I'll assess everybody after training tonight.'

後面的地方有點重覆
不過...
還是希望能全力拿下3分
畢竟上次是在大橋輸給他們呢
還是羞辱的2-0
這次來個3-0報仇吧
