Chelsea's Argentina striker Hernan Crespo has revealed how impressed he
is with the Premier League, and that signing for the Blues came down to his
trust of coach Claudio Ranieri.
Crespo moved from Inter Milan in August for £16.8 million following
Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich's takeover of the club in the summer and
it has not taken him long to identify the key differences between English and
Italian football.
'Serie A is a more tactical game, and here it's more dynamic, and more
spectacular, because the action can change in 20 seconds; it's incredible,' he
told Chelsea TV.
'I think the most important difference is in the mentality. In Italy,
football is surrounded by stress and pressure, and that makes life difficult.
Here it's easier.
'For the people and the fans that go to the stadiums, it's a show and the
fans only think of it as that, not the money or all the other things.
'It's only the football that is important.
'I always watched English football on TV. I know the importance of the
Premiership and the FA Cup, and I know your history. I feel it inside; it's a
good sensation.'
The 28-year-old international also said he never envisaged leaving the
San Siro following his £34m transfer from Lazio in August 2002 but was
persuaded to cut his ties by the Chelsea manager.
'When I arrived at Inter, I thought I would stay there forever, and then
after a year, things started to change and I got a call from Ranieri and he
asked whether I would like to come to Chelsea,' he added.
'I trusted him and I came here.'
