Forssell hints at Birmingham stay
Mikael Forssell had dropped a hint that he would be willing to make his
move from Chelsea to Birmingham City permanent in the summer.
Forssell is on loan at St Andrews until the end of the current campaign
and currently trying to focus on scoring the goals that will keep Steve
Bruce's side in the Premiership.
Bruce has already made it clear that he would like to buy Forssell, who
has scored seven times in 13 games for Blues - with Chelsea understood to be
looking for a fee of around ￡5 million.
And Forssell had admitted that City 'would be a very good place to come'
if Chelsea decide to sell him and the circumstances are right for the Finland
international.
He said: 'I am very honoured that Birmingham City want to keep me and are
willing to pay a lot of money for me. But right now I just want to show
everyone that I'm a good player and just score goals.
'I don't think Chelsea know what they want to do with me right now or
what's going to happen so I'm just concentrating on my game at the moment.
'But, if things were right for me and the teams agreed a sale, then this
would be a very good place to come.'
Forssell believes he is reaping the benefit of his first elongated spell
of Premiership action after having only a bit part to play at Stamford Bridge.
He said: 'I know what I can do but at Chelsea I was usually used as super
-sub or whatever so I didn't start many games.
'I wanted to carry on the good work I started when on loan to Borussia
Monchengladbach last season and felt that I was ready to have a go at the
Premier League - and so far, so good.
'It's good to have the confidence of your manager and team behind you and
at the moment I'm looking forward to scoring goals every time I play.'
