Terry admits: We're failures (節錄)
John Terry today admitted that Chelsea's season will be remembered as a
failure following last night's European Cup semi-final defeat to Monaco.
Chelsea are still likely to finish second in the Premiership by drawing
with Manchester United on Saturday, but such consolation prizes are of little
interest to the club's demanding new owners.
Nor the players if Terry is anything to go by.
The Chelsea captain, who was in tears after the game, said: "If we go to
Old Trafford and get a point it'll be an improvement but it's not good enough
for me. Even before Roman took over, everyone wanted to win things and I'm no
different.
"I want to have some trophies at the end of my career, firstly the League
title and secondly the Champions League. As a player you dream of winning things
and when you don't it's frustrating."
Terry added: "It's very frustrating because it was a great night for
everyone connected with Chelsea, the fans and the players. It's a dream to play
in such a late stage of the competition and it was our dream to go all the way,
but it's not to be. There's always next year. It'll take a couple of games to
get this out of our system. but we need to forget the game as quickly as
possible.
