Cole: 'We'll learn from heartbreak' 節選....
'Everyone was down at the end, what can you say? It's a horrible place
to be in a dressing-room after you've lost such a game. It's the worst, no
footballer wants to be there.
'Every player gave everything. We couldn't have done any more, apart
from finishing off the chances. It just wasn't to be. But we've got to make
sure that, this time next year, we're still in the same competition and
there's a different outcome.
'This is where it's at. We've had a great run, enjoyed it and now we
want more. These are the moments where you learn the most in football. It's
great winning but, when you lose, you really find out about yourselves and
we'll see where we are on Saturday.
'You find out a lot about yourself as a person and a player in
situations like this. We will see how we bounce back at Old Trafford.'
'If Monaco had battered us, we'd probably have felt just as bad but they
didn't. We've got to take the positives out of it, and we did play well.
We've just got to try and build on it,' added Cole.
'We've had some fantastic games this year. We've beaten Manchester
United, Arsenal and Lazio. All great teams. We're a young side but we're
learning. Against Monaco, we were playing brilliantly in the first-half, but
just needed to finish our chances.
'The finishing was the difference. We can work on that, but when you hit
the bar, it's down to a bit of luck. These are small margins. This was a
golden opportunity but whichever team you play in the semi-finals of the
Champions League, it's going to be a tough game. All credit to them and good
luck to them for the final.'
