MELCHIOT CONSIDERS OFFERS

Chelsea's out-of-contract defender Mario Melchiot has revealed he has
received 12 offers to leave Stamford Bridge. The Dutch international is
available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract in West London.
Melchiot is attracting the interest of a host of clubs including five
from The Premiership and seven from Spain and Italy. Villarreal are believed
to be one of the Spanish clubs keen on the securing Melchiot's services.
Reports emanating from Spain suggest Villarreal have held talks with the
Dutchman as they look to build on their impressive campaign last season. The
former Ajax star is unsure of his future, but admitted he wants to go
somewhere with UEFA Champions League football on offer.
"Whether it is going to be in England or anywhere else I can't decide at
the moment," Melchiot told the Daily Star. "I knew from the beginning of the
season I was going to be on a Bosman. I knew exactly what I was doing. I
have been in the situation twice before and I'm very comfortable with it."
