ROBERTO CARLOS: NO BLUES BID
Tuesday 20th January 2004
Roberto Carlos has insisted that he has had no offer from Premiership
moneybags Chelsea - with the Brazilian defender insisting he is happy to stay
in Spain with Real Madrid.
The Spanish press had tentatively suggested that the free-kick specialist could
emerge as a target for Chelsea - financed by Roman Abramovich's millions.
However, Roberto Carlos has insisted that he has heard nothing from the English
club, but will consider his options in the summer.
"Chelsea have not called me - if they do I will speak to Real's chairman
Florentino Perez," The Real star told Radio Marca.
"Perez offered me a two-year extension to my current deal through to 2007, but
I would prefer to wait until the end of the season to talk about that.
"As for Chelsea- no one has called me. If they do I will speak to (Real's
director of sport Jorge) Valdano and to the chairman.
"Money is not so much an issue. I want to be happy."
Roberto Carlos has hinted about a return to Italy and his beloved
Internazionale in the past, but may want to test his mettle in England.
