Cudicini going nowhere

Carlo Cudicini, talking this afternoon, has poured a large bucket of
cold water on press claims that he is intending to leave Chelsea at the end
of this season.
In an interview given to Chelsea TV that was broadcast earlier this
evening, Carlo first expressed surprise over the want-away claims
“About what happened this morning in the newspapers,” he began. “I
have never ever thought to leave Chelsea. I have a contract here until 2008
so if possible I would like to stay here until 2008.
“The club can decide my future as well so it is not just depending on
me. I’m really happy here. I love the club and I love the fans so absolutely
I want to stay here and try to get some trophies.
“I really love my team-mates as well,” he added. “Especially the ones
that I’ve been with for three, four or five years. We really want to try to
stick together and try to get some trophies. I don’t want to leave.”
Carlo then went on to explain why reports suggesting family reasons are
behind a wish to return to Italy are rather wide of the mark.
“If you read the newspapers, they said that I’ve got kids! And as far
as I know I haven’t!
“I have got a dog, yes, and he’s really happy to stay here in London.
Unfortunately I don’t have a wife anymore. We broke up three or four months
ago.”
Carlo joined Chelsea in summer 1999, initially on loan. He was purchased
one year later for ￡160,000 and will be 34 years old when his current
contract expires.
