Charlton are set to receive £10 million and another year of loan striker Carlton Cole from the Stamford Bridge outfit in return for the 23-year-old England international midfielder. A statement from the Blues on Thursday night revealed details of a press conference at midday on Friday 'to unveil our new signing'. Charlton appear to have finally caved in to Roman Abramovich's big spenders as Parker's lack of effort in training coincided with a third Blues bid, improving on their previous offer of £7.5 million plus performance- related payments. Chelsea were keen to seal his switch to Stamford Bridge before the winter transfer window closes at 5pm on Monday. They were particularly determined to force through the move in time to meet UEFA's 11am Monday deadline for the registration of players for the knockout stage of the Champions League in which they face VFB Stuttgart next month. The player could make his Chelsea debut at Blackburn on Sunday if registered before the Premier League's 12 noon deadline tomorrow. Earlier today Curbishley accused the player he has known since the age of 13 of poor behaviour. The Charlton boss said: 'The bottom line is that Scott, from the moment he heard Chelsea were interested, hasn't wanted to play for us and has been totally not focused on what he was doing. 'I've known Scott for 10 years, and he's been phenomenal for the last three seasons. But the last three weeks have left a bad taste in the mouth. 'He stated on many occasions he doesn't want to play for us, and his conduct in training has not been what it should have been. 'Scott Parker gives 100% in games and the same in training. But when he doesn't have that about him he's half the player - and that's how it's been for a couple of weeks. 'Scott signed a new five-year contract in the summer - and although I understand him wanting to leave, I'm not happy about with how it's come about. 'Scott's made it abundantly clear in more ways than 10 he wants to leave. 'We're all very disappointed because of where we are in the league and because this has happened now.' Curbishley hinted big-spending Abramovich may have deliberately targeted the star player of the team who are Chelsea's main rivals for a Champions League spot. He suggested: 'Perhaps Chelsea see us as their rivals, because the team below us is 13 points behind them. Perhaps they're trying to unsettle us. 'I'm just stating a fact. We're next to them, and they're trying to buy one of our players.'
