Geremi was this afternoon involved in the highest-scoring game so far
in the African Cup of Nations as Cameroon came back from going one goal down
to beat Zimbabwe 5-3.
Geremi played all but the last five minutes for the victors with their
first and third goals originating from corners taken by him. As in the
previous draw with Algeria, he played on the right of midfield.
There were further Premiership connections with many of the goals,
ex-Sunderland striker Patrick Mboma scoring a hat-trick for Cameroon while
Sheffield United’s Peter Ndlovu netted two for Zimbabwe.
The win takes Cameroon to the top of their group, equal on points with
Algeria who beat Egypt later on in the day. There is one more round of
fixtures to decide the two qualifiers and they take place on Tuesday.
Celestine Babayaro is next in action for Nigeria on Saturday.
