MAKELELE DROPS REST HINT

Chelsea's French international midfielder Claude Makelele has hinted
he is in need of a rest to manager Claudio Ranieri by stating he plays
too much.
The 'Tinkerman' is well-known for his squad rotation, however the
former Real Madrid ace has been a virtual ever-present following his
arrival from El Santiago Bernabeu.
Even when Makelele was rested for a Premiership match he was asked
to come on at half time to plug gaps in their back line when he was not
expecting to feature.
"I have read the manager compare me to a battery in a watch," said
Makelele to the News of the World.
"It's funny how, so far as I know, you change the batteries from
time to time, don't you? Well not me.
"It was just as crazy from Ranieri as my debut. He asked me to be on
the bench.
"I wasn't supposed to be coming on, but at half time the boss said
'Claude, you're going to go on for a bit'. We were winning 2-1. It was
mad. Why put me on?"
Meanwhile, England international midfielder Frank Lampard has stated
he will be asking Ranieri questions should he lose his place in the side.
The former West Ham ace has been the only Premiership ever-present
for The Blues this term and he has no intention of missing a game now.
"Claudio's rotation policy can affect the players and they get angry,"
explained Lampard.
"If he did rest me for a few games, maybe I'd bang his door down -
I love to play every game and if you don't, you get frustrated.
"Sometimes you play, sometimes you don't. The most important thing is
that Chelsea win."
