Cole denies Chelsea exit

Chelsea's Joe Cole has played down claims that he is ready to hand in a
transfer request at Stamford Bridge.


Cole is at the centre of widespread speculation that he wants to leave after
being substituted at half-time in the win at Manchester City.


But Cole's agent David Geiss told BBC Sport: "There is no truth in this. There
have been no discussions about Joe's future at Chelsea.


"Joe is a Chelsea player and there have been no talks whatsover."


The speculation, however, is likely to continue as Cole is only a fringe player
in Chelsea's multi-million pound squad.


Cole's prospects of figuring for England in Euro 2004 have also been hit by his
failure to establish himself in Claudio Ranieri's side.


The 22-year-old England midfield man has yet to complete a full 90 minutes in
the Premiership since moving from West Ham in a ￡6.6m deal six months ago.


There was talk of Cole being offered to Charlton in a straight swap when
Chelsea were lining up the deal for Scott Parker, and also that Everton had
tried to take him on loan during the January transfer window.


Chelsea coach Ranieri moved to cool claims that Cole was unsettled in January.
