Marco Ambrosio has expressed his delight at his first Premiership
performance, with the Italian goalkeeper producing a string of fine saves
in Chelsea's win against Bolton.
Ambrosio came in to the Chelsea side because of an injury to compatriot
Carlo Cudicini, but performed admirably for manager Claudio Ranieri.
"I'm so happy I have forgotten any regrets," Ambrosio told Corriere
dello Sport, who had been disappointed not to get an earlier chance.
"This incredibly display repays me for all the efforts and the patience
that I had.
"Before the match I was very nervous. When you don't play for so long
you lose a little faith.
"But Ranieri told me to be tranquil before the game and play without fear.
"After I made the first save I soon calmed down.
"I was told I would be number two when I brought in, but I found myself
behind both Cudicini and Neil Sullivan and in the stands.
"The coach makes the decision, but I kept trying and I have got my
chance."
Ambrosio now faces a crucial game in the Champions League - which is
making the keeper nervous.
"I honestly don't know if I am ready for this meeting," added Ambrosio.
"It will be the most important match of my life and I want to give my
best because I am dreaming of giving my whole career a shake-up.
"It will be really hard to meet a team like Arsenal, but I'm optimistic
and I think the match will be open.
"Arsenal are living in a fantastic period, but sooner or later they will
start losing."
