PARKER DOWN ON EURO CHANCES

Chelsea star Scott Parker fears his chances of making the England squad
for this summer's European Championship are all but gone.
Parker only got 12 minutes as a late substitute in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat
to Sweden and he feels his hopes of making the trip to Portugal are as good
as over.
The former Charlton midfielder was recalled to the squad for the game
with Sweden after missing the February clash with Portugal, but he still
believes he has run out of time to cement his place in Sven Goran Eriksson's
plans.
Parker admitted it will be hard to break into the side and is now
concentrating all his efforts on helping Chelsea reach the semi-finals of
the UEFA Champions League and their fight for The Premiership.
"I think it will be tough to get in now. I haven't had a massive crack
at international level so I suppose that is one negative point beside my
name," Parker told the London Evening Standard.
"All I can do is keep playing well for Chelsea and hopefully something
might come up, but I do think it will be difficult.
"It's been pretty hectic for me over the last couple of months, but
there is a big game at the weekend and another one next Tuesday. I'm just
happy I was in the squad.
"Hopefully, I can persuade him by playing well for Chelsea but there
are many good players in my position in the country.
"I said at Charlton at the beginning of the season that it would be
difficult for me to do it. The game on Tuesday is a massive one for Chelsea
and the league is still in sight. We do believe it can happen for us in
either competition or what's the point in playing?"
