FORSSELL HINTS AT NEW DEAL
Mikael Forssell has admitted he could stay at Birmingham on another
year's loan from Chelsea.
Forssell is currently with City on a season-long deal, has scored 18
goals and was voted the Barclaycard Premiership Player of the Month for
March.
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce would love to tie up the services of
the ￡5 million-rated Forssell on a permanent basis.
But the Finn believes Chelsea are unsure what route they want to take
with him - whether to retain his services or let him go - and a further loan
at St Andrews could be a compromise.
Claudio Ranieri has already agreed to allow Carlton Cole to stay at
Charlton for a second season.
Forssell told the Birmingham Evening Mail: "I think that definitely it
( a further loan deal ) is a possibility.
"Coming here on loan was, for me and Birmingham, a very positive thing.
Chelsea could have easily sold me in pre-season so it was also a good
solution for them.
"They could see how I got on playing regularly in the Premier League.
Next season, it's different again. But, yes, another year could be an option.
"You have to remember that, for the moment, anything is possible - going
back to Chelsea, being sold, or being loaned.
"I believe negotiations are going forward now. Steve Bruce and Birmingham
are starting to talk about the situation.
"But we are all waiting, waiting on Chelsea, and I don't think they know
what they want just yet.
"I'm happy that everyone is giving me the space and calmness do my own
thing and concentrate on my football for now. There is also time to talk
about what to do over the whole summer."
