MORIENTES COMPARES CHELSEA TO REAL

Monaco striker Fernando Morientes believes Champions League semi-final
opponents Chelsea have improved so much this season that they can be
compared to Real Madrid.


Morientes reluctantly left Real to join Monaco on loan last year after
the Spanish club forced him out.


And while the Spaniards have been champions of Europe on nine occasions,
and Chelsea have never won either the European Cup or Champions League,
Morientes believes that the two current sides are worthy of comparison.


He told L'Equipe: "Chelsea are a great European club like Real.


"There are great players, a different style of game, it's more direct,
it's the English game."


Morientes is looking forward to meeting up with Geremi and Claude Makelele,
his former Real team-mates who now play for Chelsea.


"I will meet up with my old friends Makelele and Geremi," he said.


"I know it will be a big match."
