Looking foward to Tuesday’s Champions League match, Claudio was asked about
the injuries and illness within his squad. John Terry had started the match on
the bench and William Gallas limped off midway through the first-half.
“John Terry had a bad kick at Villa and had a little problem with his ankle.
Yesterday the doctor told me not to risk him. So I brought him on the bench but
didn’t want to put him under any stress at all so told him not to go in the
warm up,” he explained. “I don’t know yet about Gallas.
“Damien Duff and Eidur Gudjohnsen are both sick. Eidur was again today in bed.
I don’t know if he is in good condition because I don’t know if this kind of
fever pulls you down. The same with Damien Duff.
“Hernan Crespo is getting better. Veron is getting better.
“Makelele too is getting better. Maybe he will be fit. Tomorrow I check
because today he touched the ball alone, not in any game.
“Potentially I hope nobody will be unavailable for the trip to Monaco. I hope
tomorrow they will all be able to come in for training.”
