DECO FANCIES CHELSEA MEETING
Barcelona midfielder Deco insists he would like to draw Chelsea in the next
round of the Champions League and pit himself against his former coach Jose
Mourinho.
Chelsea, with the Catalan giants are one of the favourites to win the
competition this year but the Portuguese international claims it would be
an exciting challenge to face Chelsea in the next round.
Asked if he would fancy a reunion with Mourinho was was in charge of Porto
when Deco inspired the Portuguese club to the Champions League crown earlier
this year, the Brazilian-born Portuguese international replied in the
affirmative.
He said: "It would be good to face a friend but Chelsea are very strong.
"If we want to win the Champions League we cannot afford to fear any opponents
and we have to have confidence in ourselves."
Barca's form this season which has seen them move nine points clear at the
top of the Primera Division has not gone unnoticed in Europe and they have
been singled out as the team to avoid by many clubs.
"Certainly we don't want to play Barcelona in their present form even though
a game at the Nou Camp would be attractive," said Juventus player Alessandro
Del Piero.
Internazionale's Alvaro Recoba explained he would rather face Real Madrid
than Frank Rijkaard's side.
Recoba said: "I would prefer not to meet Barcelona at this stage as they are
the strongest of the opponents and in Spain Madrid do not look as strong as
in previous years.
"In Europe so far we have done very well and now we are waiting for the draw
as we know from here it will be very different and with just two games we
have to be a lot more concentrated.
