As a result Chelsea have become the first Premier League club to reach a supporter agreement with the bid team. Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon said: “Bringing the Olympics to London is something all sporting organisations in the capital can support. Along with the World Cup, the Olympics is the greatest sporting occasion in the world. “For it to come to London would be a great honour and will create a huge increase in sporting interest as well as other advantages. The bid is not just about the transformation of east London where many of the events will be held. It is just as relevant to other parts of London. “If the bid is successful, clubs such as ourselves will clearly benefit from a better transport infrastructure for the capital and the international showcase that it gives London.” The relationship with Chelsea was sealed at a photo-call today at the club’s new Cobham training ground when the Chairman of the London bid and former double Olympic gold medallist, Lord Coe, was joined by Chelsea manager and first team coach Jose Mourinho, as well as several first team stars. Sebastian Coe, Chairman of London 2012, the company bidding to bring the Games to London, said: ‘We are delighted to receive this level of support from Chelsea. This is a real sign of the increased backing we are now getting from every part of the sporting community. ‘The English Premier League is watched and recognised across the globe and this sort of support sends a great message internationally.’ Mourinho himself has now made London home to his family and believes if London wins he could still be a resident in 2012. “London is now home to my family and we love living in London. It is a fantastic city and a city such as this deserves to host the Olympic Games. If my support can help this in a small way then this is a great honour for me. You never know, I may still be here in 2012 if London wins.” Chelsea has six players born in or around the London area, captain John Terry, Frank Lampard, Scott Parker, Joe Cole, Glen Johnson and Lenny Pidgeley. Terry said: “I’m a Londoner born and bred. It would obviously be fantastic to bring the Olympics to London and if Chelsea can do their little bit to help then that’s great.” Chelsea will be supporting the bid in a number of ways in the run-up to the IOC vote in July 2005. A number of potential exciting initiatives are to be a part of the Chelsea-London 2012 link, including: · Perimeter board advertising · Big screen video and PA announcements before matches · London 2012 branding in club programme and magazines · Links with the Chelsea community scheme · Space for editorial on Chelsea TV and radio. There has also been a letter of support from Chelsea Village Hotels regarding accommodation in the event of a successful bid. This was part of the official candidate file submitted to the IOC recently. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 事業越做越大了...
