Back to work if not still working
Thursday, Dec 30, 2004
Chelsea’s first team squad resumes training today, Thursday, after a day off
following victory over Portsmouth. But some still went in on their day off to
continue working.
Didier Drogba, who is fighting to re-attain full fitness after his groin
operation in October, went in and saw fitness coach Rui Faria and physio
Alberto Andorlini before doing some running. Joe Cole, whose substitute
appearance when the score was still 0-0 at Portsmouth was his first
Premiership action since October dropped by to do some exercises and running
with Faria.
Others were in for long massages: centre-backs William Gallas and John Terry
were two of those.
Having so many players live near the training ground certainly makes it easier
and more attractive for them to use its facilities just to keep ticking over
even in a busy period like this.
The team travels up to Liverpool tomorrow to prepare for the game with them at
Anfield on New Year’s Day.
