Chelsea midfielder Scott Parker's hopes of an imminent return from injury have
suffered a setback with a recurrence of his foot problem.
Parker initially sustained the injury in December but was an unused substitute
for the Champions League last 16 second leg tie against Barcelona on March 8.
He had been hoping to make the next step by returning to first-team action
but suffered a relapse during training on Thursday.
The former Charlton midfielder is now awaiting a specialist's assessment to
establish how long he will have to wait before relaunching his comeback bid.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho revealed details of the setback in his programme
notes before today's game against Crystal Palace.
Mourinho wrote: 'Scottie Parker has had a recurrence of his foot injury. I am
very sad for him but hopefully he can recover quickly.'
