Munich's Pizarro out of Chelsea game

Bayern Munich striker Claudio Pizarro limped out of their 3-0 win at
Wolfsburg yesterday, Saturday, with a groin strain and will miss the
first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final at Chelsea on
Wednesday.
Only a few minutes had gone and the score was still 0-0. Roy Makaay
was playing his second game following injury, so youngster Paolo Guerrero
was the unlucky one left out.
Pizarro’s aerial threat may be something that Munich will miss but
Guerrero is a lively and talented player. The 18 year old Peruvian has
started his Munich career with seven goals in ten Bundesliga games. His
record of having scored four after his first 107 minutes beat a record
set in Germany by Gerd Muller.
Bayern Munich kept their position at the top of the Bundesliga with
this win, ahead of Schalke on goal difference, so it will be English
leaders v German leaders on Wednesday.

Bayern injury worries increase

Chelsea’s Champions League opponents Bayern Munich have further
concerns ahead of Wednesday’s game with the news that striker Roy
Makaay is an injury doubt.
Fellow striker Claudio Pizarro has already been ruled out after
damaging a groin in Bayern’s win on Saturday but according to reports
coming out of Germany, Makaay who also went off early in the game, has
been unable to train on Sunday.
The Dutch international has a thigh problem with Bayern coach Felix
Magath reportedly saying: “I hope we can get that fixed up by Wednesday.
A complete loss of our attack would be quite problematic.”
