HEAVEN 17 ... Terry in Chelsea kit(圖,隊長的八字眉隨著年紀增長越趨明顯)
"Winning the Premiership is something I've dreamed of for a very long time,”
Terry revealed afterwards.
Terry said: “The manager asked what I would prefer out of Premiership,
Champions League, Carling Cup and FA Cup and I told him the Premiership
because it’s a special one for everyone.”
Yet Terry admits that both he and the rest of the team were concerned about
what the future held before they encountered Mourinho.
The England star added: "Until we met Jose we were scared to be honest. We
weren't quite sure what to expect.
"But once we met the man, realised how good he was and how much he wanted to
win, it was great.
"He said he could see the lads had a lot of respect for me and so he wanted
me to be his captain.
"He said what he wanted from me and that on the training pitch and around the
place he wanted me to be a speaker.
"Also, out there in the game, he wanted me to get his words across to the
players.
"Jose is such a great guy in and around the place. The lads have got so much
respect for him. He has been fantastic, I can’t speak highly enough of him
for what he's done for me personally.
"Jose has given me a lot of confidence, gave me the armband at the start of
the season and made me believe I'm up there with the best players in the
Premiership.
"All season long he’s been great for me, on and off the pitch.
"He's very clever at what he does and takes the pressure away from the
players.
"All the talk around the games has often revolved around him which has meant
we've been able to go out there, get on with the job and do our bit on the
pitch.
"Training and tactically he's got it spot on and has a great staff around
him. He wants to win everything.
"Even in training you can see that desire, he doesn't settle for second best.
"Once that's instilled in you, you start believing and you don't even want
to concede goals in training.”
The Blues skipper said: "I think it will be really special for the manager
to win the Champions League, especially in two consecutive seasons.
"He's done it with Porto and he's taken us to the semis but we've still got
a long way to go.
"We've got a chance, we're in the hat and that's the main thing.
"But Liverpool will not be easy as they have proved in the competition this
season.
"Stevie Gerrard is obviously one of their key men, along with Milan Baros if
he's fit and Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia.
"They are all dangerous, are very good players and we have a lot of respect
for them.
"They will want to get revenge on us for the Carling Cup final. Hopefully,
we won't allow that to happen.”
