Robert Huth has retained his place in the German national squad as his country
prepares for a rematch of the 2002 World Cup Final.
Germany, as hosts of the 2006 competition have no qualification campaign
beginning this week so will be playing a series of friendlies over the next two
seasons. The first is a high profile encounter with Brazil in Berlin on
Wednesday 8th September.
Huth has been named in Jurgen Klinsmann’s 20-man party having made his full
international debut last month with a five minute appearance against Austria.
He was a late addition for that match following the withdrawal of the injured
Jens Nowotny and Arne Friedrich. With those two experienced players still
absent, Huth has been called upon again.
The game will be played in the 20 year-old Chelsea defender’s home city.
