Robert Huth is optimistic his impressive showing for Germany against Brazil
on Wednesday evening will have attracted the attention of Chelsea boss
Jose Mourinho.
Huth, who is very much a squad player at the Stamford Bridge outfit, performed
admirably in the heart of the German defence to earn the home team a 1-1 draw
against the world champions.
The 20-year-old believes he just needs to keep in peak condition and grab his
opportunity when it arises.
"I think if you perform well against Brazil this can raise hope to play (at
Chelsea), too," Huth told the PA.
"The coach (Jose Mourinho) is fair and gives everyone a chance. I hope I can
show him what I'm capable of doing."
"My last start for the first team must have been a while ago, probably last
season. I'll just keep myself fit. I will train well and see what happens.
"In football, you get injuries and suspensions, so I just have to be fit when
it happens.
"I thank Mr Klinsmann for letting me play 90 minutes against Brazil."I'm glad
I could pay him back."
New Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann was also glad to see his young debutant
excel against Real Madrid star Ronaldo and Co.
"The way he uses his power and energy is astounding," Klinsmann stated.
"It is a demonstration of self-confidence. I really preferred not to be
Ronaldo or Adriano, and if I was still an active player, I would not want to
play against him."
